Welcome to English 3P
This class is an 11th grade college preparatory class designed for students to attend college. Students will develop their proficiency in the 11-12 Same State Standards through knowledge and appreciation for particularly American literature from the colonial period through this century. The literature is studied by historical periods, while addressing the philosophical movements that influenced literature. The students will understand and utilize changing technology, and effectively communicate through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The year’s curriculum includes authors such as Arthur Miller, Washington Irving, Ralph Waldo, Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe and Walt Whitman. Students’ critical thinking skills are sharpened through literary analysis.
